**Role**:
Join our team as a Timber Management Specialist and be part of ensuring the economic viability of the forest industry in our local area. As our new Timber Management Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Community Timber Permit Program (CTPP) and associated timber management administration, while providing guidance and direction to area staff on proper implementation of timber management legislation and regulations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate harvest planning and design for issuing timber dispositions
- Develop and implement strategic guidelines for the Community Timber Permit Program
- Liaison with timber associations, special interest groups, Indigenous Communities, and other government ministries
- Oversee accurate and timely issuance of various timber dispositions
- Ensure that field staff carries out their duties in an operationally consistent and safe manner
- Assist in delivery and implementation of Forest Health and Wildfire Management Programs

**Minimum Requirement**:

- Two year Forestry diploma
- plus four (4) years of current, related experience
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Equivalencies will be considered on a 1 for 1 basis_**Assets include**:

- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Knowledge of various Provincial Legislation including:

- Forests Act
- Timber Management Regulation
- Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
- Forest and Prairie Protection Act and Regulations
- Forestry Profession Act
- Public Lands Act
- Forestry Stewardship and Trade Branch (FSTB) directives
- Forest Management Planning Standard
- Forest Management Herbicide Manual and Regeneration Survey Manual
- Scaler’s Manual
- Public Land Management Directives
- Forest management planning, forest industry/operations experience
- Forest Operation Monitoring experience, RSA, and scaling experience
- Forest Health assessment experience (MPB surveys, etc.)
- Project management experience
- Wildfire operations experience such as crew leader or fire line member
- Experience operating equipment such as off-highway vehicles, 4x4 vehicles, and snowmobiles
- Ability to fly in fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters
- Strong mediation and negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with various stakeholders

**Salary**:
$2,568.72 to $3,304.72 bi-weekly ($67,043 - $86,253/year)

**Notes**:
This position is a full-time, permanent role with the standard work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday. Some travel and overtime will be required periodically to meet operational needs.
