The Vancouver Island IBD Clinic acts to provide longitudinal patient care, forming relationships with patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other GI conditions. Inflammatory bowel disease is primarily made up of two conditions, Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis. These conditions often affect young people, and are chronic conditions. Fortunately, our therapies are low risk and highly effective, making it a very rewarding area to practice in.
The majority of duties are performed from our office via telemedicine,, and some occasional in person assessments. The MOA is expected to work-collaboratively as part of a team with physicians, nurses, investigators, research assistants, students, Island Health hospital and research staff, and administrative support staff.
We utilize a state-of-the-art electronic medical record (EMR) to deliver comprehensive patient care. Our EMR documentation system is one of the most sophisticated in Canada, making time spent efficient and high quality.
Overview
As an MOA, you will assist in the coordination of care of GI patients and research participants from across Vancouver Island, playing a central role in coordinating interdisciplinary care.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors at the front desk, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage phone systems, answering calls promptly and directing inquiries as needed.
- Schedule appointments and maintain an organized calendar for healthcare providers.
- Collect patient information and verify insurance details accurately.
- Assist with electronic medical records (EMR) management, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
- Collaborate with other MOAs and other staff members to ensure efficient office operations.
- Prioritizing and notifying patients of upcoming tests/procedure appointments arranged by the office
- Support the healthcare team with various tasks as needed, including patient follow-ups.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, particularly with electronic medical records systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for managing administrative tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Familiarity with front desk operations in a medical office is advantageous.
- Must be able to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Compensation
- We are a progressive employer offering salary based on years experience, some flexibility of hours, health spending accounts, and wellness accounts.
