**About the role**:
As Director, IT Communications, you will have lead responsibility for developing, managing and delivering globally integrated communications plans that positively impact culture, employee engagement, innovation and performance across Global IT.
You will be the primary internal communications business partner to the Chief Digital Officer & CIO, providing strategic executive communications support and counsel, and will play an active, contributing role on the IT Leadership Team (ITLT).
You will work with the IT Leadership Team, senior leaders and functional communicators to ensure the delivery of timely, relevant, consistent and compelling communications that achieve tangible outcomes for the business. In this role, you, together with the Senior Manager, IT Communications, will focus on ensuring ground-breaking IT projects with broad impact and relevance to all employees (i.e. IT to AZ) are communicated effectively and efficiently across AstraZeneca. Alongside this, you will have oversight and accountability for IT internal communication channels with alignment to global channels, including Nucleus (AZ intranet) and Workpalce (Social platform).
Cultural awareness and alignment with the AstraZeneca brand and external communications, including digital, external media and investor relations, will be key. An understanding/interest in the fast moving technology and digital world is a distinct advantage, with Pharma background desirable.
As Director of IT Communications, you must gain the trust and respect of executive/key internal partners who will rely on your counsel and guidance on all internal communications matters. Excellent writing, presentation development, attention to detail, planning, execution and multi-channel communications experience (particularly digital communications) is essential, with a proven track record for delivering innovative and successful internal communications.
**Key responsibilities**
- Lead the development and execution of the Global IT communications strategy and annual plan.
- Lead internal and external communication activities for Chief Digital Officer & CIO, working with Global Media Team and other key collaborators as needed.
- Work with CDO/CIO and ITLT to develop comprehensive, integrated communication plans to support the delivery of business priorities.
- Be an active, contributing member of the IT Leadership Team.
- Establish effective and flexible ways of working and build interfaces with other parts of Global Corporate Affairs (GCA).
- Provide direction and strategic guidance to IT communicators across the business and ensure alignment with IT communication activities - providing strategic direction and guidance.
- Advise and coach senior leaders on events/issues/activities that need to be communicated internally and/or externally.
- Lead the delivery of compelling IT strategy and performance communications.
- Lead the development and execution of best practice change communication to advance organisational transformation activities in IT.
- Provide communications support and expertise to IT issues and crisis management teams.
- Supervise/lead the planning, development and delivery of flagship Global IT events - including all employee webcasts, virtual leader meetings and face to face events.
- Ensure all communications share a unified look and feel that reflect the company’s business priorities, strategy and brand.
- Represent Corporate Affairs within Global IT, influencing development plans and promoting alignment of/adherence to strategies and appropriate governance.
- Ensure communications are continuous, consistent and distributed through appropriate channels.
- Deputise as needed for Senior Director, Global Operations & IT Communications and serve as a flexible Global Corporate Affairs resource when timely resource / prioritisation is required.
