**What you’ll do**

As part of the Regulatory Policy Directorate, you are part of an innovative and collaborative team. You will actively participate in developing Canada’s nuclear regulatory framework in consultation with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll provide strategic advice and leadership to the development and implementation of the Commission’s regulatory framework. The incumbent will:

- Conduct research and contributes to the development and implementation of the Commission’s regulatory framework, in accordance with the Government of Canada’s Cabinet Directive on Regulation,
- Contribute to the development, revision and implementation of supporting policies and processes to ensure the policy requirements of the Directive are included in work plans and activities, and

**Essential Qualifications**:
**Education**: Completion of appropriate post-secondary education at a recognized institution, combined with experience in policy analysis and development in a regulatory environment, or a relevant combination of education, experience and job knowledge

**Language Requirements**: English Essential

**Experience**:

- Leading and/or participating in the development of regulations, regulatory guidance documents or Commission Member Documents (CMDs)
- Using project management tools and techniques to plan, manage and track the development of regulations and regulatory guidance documents
- Leading and/or participating in the analysis and resolution of technical and policy issues
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with regulatory stakeholders (for example, other government departments, industry associations, civil society organizations) and/or Indigenous organizations
- Developing and presenting briefing materials for management, senior management and/or other senior government officials
- Contributing to the development, revision and implementation of internal supporting policies and processes for a Directorate

**Knowledge of**:

- Cabinet Directive on Regulating (CDR) and regulatory making processes
- CNSC’s regulatory framework
- CNSC’s licensing, assessment and compliance activities
- The role of International Atomic Energy Agency documents and the Canadian Standards Associations standards within the CNSC framework.

**Ability to**:

- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
