St John's, Canada Postmaster's Garden Cafe Full time

We are seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our team at Cape Spear. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of various dishes in a fast-paced cafe environment. If you have a passion for food and enjoy working in a kitchen setting, we would love to hear from you.

**Duties**:

- Set up and stock food items and other necessary supplies
- Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements by properly food handling and storage
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and standard operating procedures
- Work with kitchen staff to prepare and cook all dishes on our menu
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by Head Cook
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and gathering spices
- Assist in the cooking process by following recipes and instructions provided by the head chef
- Ensure that all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and meets food safety standards
- Plate and present dishes in an appealing manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation

**Experience**:

- Minimum 1 year experience working in a kitchen or restaurant setting is REQUIRED
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation, and service techniques
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team

Will need to be able to crouch, stand, walk, and bend. Be able to lift up to 20kg

Must have your own reliable transportation to and from Cape Spear.

Early mornings will be in the schedule rotation.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 20 weeks

**Salary**: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
- Tips
