**OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Environmental Department Manager, the **Environmental, Health & Safety** **Student** **is responsible for routine sample collection and laboratory analysis, inspections and technical reporting, and will provide administrative assistance to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) department. Assignement period**: May 15, 2023 to September 1, 2023.**

**DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Complete daily representative sample collection
- Prepare samples and complete in-house laboratory analysis daily or manage 3rd-party confirmatory laboratory analysis under chain of custody
- Prepare and distribute technical reports documenting laboratory analytical findings
- Assist with the maintenance of sample collection, monitoring, and laboratory equipment
- Conduct routine EHS site inspections
- Prepare and distribute findings of EHS inspections and action items from Joint Environmental, Health and Safety Committee meetings
- Complete data entry, manage documentation, conduct research and assist with communications
- Assist with other EHS initiatives, as required

**WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION**
- Enrolled in an educational program in Environmental Science, Food Science, Chemistry or Environmental or Chemical Engineering
- Completed courses related to sampling and laboratory analysis

**ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)**
- Operation of samplers and analyzers
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and SharePoint, in particular)
- Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to periodically work evenings or weekends

**ADDITIONAL NOTES**
- Work performed requires exposure to hazards typical to a manufacturing and laboratory environment, moderate periods of physical strain, and a high degree of ownership of tasks.
