**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Principle Investegators, the Research Associate in nanobubble generation and characterization will assist in ongoing research activities dedicated to the investigation and development of a nanobubble generator and characterization efforts.

In this project, the Research Associate (RA) will participate experiments that require use of various scientific instruments and the design and testing of equipment and processes. The RA will need to work closely with other team members at the University and industry collaborators. In this work, the RA will work relatively independently and often with relatively little direction. The RA will conduct and oversee experiments, and will be expected to recommend changes to methods, procedures, and practices. Regular interactions and collaboration with other team members is expected and encouraged. Coordinating activities with other team members is part of the position. The position will conduct her/his project activities in accordance with the rest of the research team and perform experiments at University of Calgary.

**Position Description**

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Work at the University of Calgary and industrial collaborator site.
- Work with other project team members and technical staff at the University and industrial collaborators.
- Design experiments in conjunction with both PIs; perform and troubleshoot experiments, interacting with the technical staff when appropriate; report results back to the project team at the University of Calgary.
- Review the appropriate scientific literature to support experiments.
- Publication of results in peer-review journals and/or presentation at conferences is anticipated.
- Presentation of results to team meetings.
- Understanding of standard operating procedures of the equipment used in the experimental protocols.
- Maintenance of a clean and safe laboratory work area and office space.

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- MSc degree in Chemistry, or relevant field.
- Extensive knowledge in the field of chemical analysis, with broad knowledge of and experience with wet lab equipment (pH and DO meter, conductivity, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, analytical balance, oven, water purification system, oscilloscope, electrical signal generators, turbidity meter, density meter) and chemical analysis procedures and techniques (prepare solutions with specific ionic strength, pH, and buffer concentration).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the measurement of nanobubbles, reactor design, and building reactor prototypes.
- Minimum 1 year experience programming in Matlab.
- Experience with Gas chromatography mass spectrometry and fourier transform infrared analysis.
- Experience with Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and nano-particle tracking analysis (NTA).
