Course Description:
EDEC 201 First Year Professional Seminar
Curriculum and Instruction : Orientation to the culture and community of school and to teaching as a profession. Focus on the general functioning of schools and complexity of the teacher role. Competencies and working professional portfolios will be addressed.

This course is not Team taught.
Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education / Éducation- Master’s degree (In exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered).- Teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching in schools
Experience / Expérience- Experience teaching in schools.- Expert knowledge of course content.- Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)- Familiarity with the Professional Competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.- Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary/secondary school system an asset.- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers an asset.- Familiarity with myCourses and Zoom or similar online course and meeting platform(s) is an asset.
Other / Autre- Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.
