**Corman Park is looking for a motivated, creative, and professional individual to join our team for the position of Health and Safety Coordinator.**

Corman Park (CP) is a growing municipality, with a population of 8,909 (2021) and surface area of 1,911 km2. Administratively, there are four departments, with approx. 25 employees working in one central office environment and approx. 50 employees (at peak period) in the field.
Employees in the field work out of various worksites, operate various machines and pieces of equipment, and conduct a variety of core and seasonal activities.

The Health and Safety Coordinator provides expert advice, guidance, and assistance to facilitate the implementation, updating, and maintenance of CP’s health and safety programs in alignment with occupational health and safety legislation. The coordinator is also responsible for overseeing the Emergency Management Organization program, managing several relationships between CP and emergency agencies, and ensuring compliance to protect the municipality, its residents, and municipal partners.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, as well as collaborating with the broader management team and key partners, this position will:

- Mentor, guide, and provide technical advice to stakeholders on occupational health and safety situations to ensure all work is completed safely.
- As a safety expert, assist in the development, maintenance, implementation, and assessment (auditing) of CP’s safety system, policies, and programs to ensure compliance with legislation.
- Ensure the utilization of effective investigation procedures for all incidents and dangerous occurrences, act as the investigation coordinator for serious incidents, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Assist in the establishment and processing of all safety-related training records and reports, including a process to ensure that employees are provided with safety orientation and ongoing training for their duties.
- Determine and prioritize health and safety issues and initiatives within business processes and external factors.
- Provide health and safety guidance based on technical knowledge supplemented by analysis of evidence, experience, and critical thought.

The coordinator is also responsible for developing and implementing emergency management initiatives for CP. This work crosses a spectrum of activities in the areas of security, business continuity, and emergency management, including but not limited to:

- Update emergency preparedness and emergency response plans in accordance with applicable legislation and regulations.
- Review emergency response training material and assist in the updating and development of material.
- Provide training and awareness to ensure employees and delegated positions are aware of their roles and responsibilities in emergency situations.
- Coordinate with other agencies that are involved in or play a supporting role in emergency management.

**Education/ Experience Requirements**:

- Degree in a related field, supplemented by successful completion of courses in health and safety.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in development and implementation of health and safety initiatives.
- Considerable knowledge of policies and provincial legislation pertaining to occupational health and safety, workers’ compensation, and the duty to accommodate.
- Considerable knowledge of health and safety auditing processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability and skill in utilizing intervention techniques to address unsafe behaviour or conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, design and facilitate safety-related training programs.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, determine hazardous conditions, and take corrective action.
- Familiarity with business continuity planning, security, OHS, and the Incident Command

System (ICS) is considered an asset.

**Employment Qualifications**:

- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan class 5 driver’s licence.
- Current driver’s abstract indicating a safe driving record.
- Skilled in facilitating, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of ethics, discretion, confidentiality, and trust and demonstrate reliability and integrity daily.
- Analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking is required.

**Salary**: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
