Install Operator

The Install Operator is responsible for the successful installation of screw piles, including the safety and productivity of the crew around them. This role works closely with the Field Supervisor on site, and may occasionally be called upon to take on the role of a Field Supervisor, which may include engaging with customers on behalf of Almita. They are familiar with all functions of each install machine and demonstrate an understanding of trouble-shooting methodologies, referencing best practices for necessary corrections as well as the effect of different ground conditions as they pertain to pile installation

**Shift Hours**:Varying.
**Wage**: $34/hr+
**Key Accountabilities**
- Ability to accurately and efficiently execute all duties of a Swamper to Install Operator
- Act as a mentor for all positions working with the Install Operator
- Can effectively correct a pile during install and competent at hanging extensions and installation of battered piles
- Demonstrates understanding of all piles sizes and types, including bucket piles
- Has experience in installing most piles sizes ranging from 4 ½” to 42”
- Can quickly and accurately read and communicate specifications and directions from detailed plans and drawings
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the factors impacting install, including install specifications (such as torque and embedment), vertical and battered piles, limits (such as overhead power lines) and installing on slopes or difficult terrain (including various ground conditions)
- Ability to complete installations on most ground conditions
- Ability to communicate with Project Management and Engineering departments to resolve installation issues (as required)
- Understanding of the requirement for pre-drill, and can explain the process involved
- Ability to load/unload machines onto trailers and knows the correct method for chaining machines for transport requiring only mínimal assistance
- Demonstrates safe operating procedures (start-up, operation, stopping, etc.) and understands machine limits (both load and voltage)
- Participates in the daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment (greasing, visual inspections of all hydraulic components, shovelling tracks, etc.)
- Can perform hydraulic motor swap or full head attachment swap with support from maintenance
- Ability to operate machines at or near the upper limits, and in restricted spaces (relative to pile size)
- Understands regular maintenance, required documentation and the safe operation of all machines used in the field and the shop (including knowledge of grease points, awareness of blind spots and swing zones, proper procedures prior to operation, familiarity with comprehensive pre-use inspections, daily logs, etc.)
- Demonstrates good housekeeping habits by keeping the site clean and tidy to prevent injuries and property damage
- Seeks out innovative ways to increase production and potential savings
- Performance other duties as assigned
**Education / Experience**
- Completion of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) is preferred
- Installation experience indifferent divisions of construction, such as T & D, Oil and Gas, Commercial, Residential
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Experience working on construction worksites
- Experience operating machinery
- Knowledge of industry-related tools is an asset (sockets, wrenches and some air tools)

- Construction environment
- Usually outdoors, including travel to remote locations
- Accommodations while on a project are arranged by Almita in either a camp setting or hotel as determined by project requirements
- Exposure to loud noises

- Physical elements include bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, standing for long periods of time, lifting weights up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally with assistance
