Facility Supervisor

The Facility Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and supervision of safe operations and daily maintenance of municipal buildings. This position will develop guidelines and procedures to ensure consistent practices are followed and buildings are well maintained.
**Reporting To**:Manager of Parks & Facilities
**Supervises**:Park & Facility Maintainers, Facility & Rink Attendants
**Facility Locations**:Davidson Centre, Tiverton Sports Arena, Underwood Community Centre, Kincardine Arts Centre, Municipal Administration Building, Armow Hall
**Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate operations, maintenance, and cleaning of municipal buildings including completing work assignments and scheduling of staff
- Tour and inspect facilities to identify problems and take corrective actions as required
- Complete ice maintenance which may include driving the ice resurfacing equipment, installing edges, removing ice, logging maintenance activities and compressor readings
- Complete minor maintenance repairs for facilities and equipment as required
- Work closely with community group representatives to coordinate and execute special events in the municipality
- Liaise with renters of facilities to address questions or concerns related to amenities
- Monitor the work of contractors to ensure safety and compliance with the terms and conditions of contracts
- Implement a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and facilities
- Contribute to the budgeting process for operating and capital expenses for the department
- Investigate and recommend cost savings measures or revenue generation ideas for the facilities
- Investigate and resolve escalated customer complaints and concerns, ensuring they are addressed in a timely, accurate and professional manner
- Monitor the coordination of all operational materials and oversee the procurement of contracts for equipment, services, and materials
- Ensure that occupational health & safety practices are strictly observed and followed
- Assist in the development and preparation of policies, and procedures to ensure safety of staff and community members
- Responsible for interviewing & hiring new employees, carrying out performance appraisals, directing the training & development of staff, providing coaching opportunities and carrying out disciplinary actions
- Adhere to Municipality of Kincardine corporate policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned by Management
**Education & Experience Requirements**:
- Post-secondary education in Building Maintenance, Facility Management, or a related discipline
- 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity
- Certified Ice Technician (CIT) considered an asset
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) considered an asset
- Basic and/or Advanced Refrigeration Certificate
- Possess a Valid Ontario Drivers license
**Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies**:
- Strong working knowledge of facility maintenance, equipment, and best practices; the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop a good team environment
- Ability to adapt to the daily challenges associated with a busy work environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to effectively respond to public inquiries in a respectful and tactful manner
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making
- Demonstrated work history that highlights teamwork and a positive attitude
- Established computer skills
**Employment Information**:
- Permanent, Full-Time Position
- 40 Hours per Week
- Group 11 (Step 1 $38.50 per hour - Step 5 $47.27 per hour)
