The Environmental Services Supervisor will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the municipal water, wastewater, waste management & stormwater systems in compliance with established regulations.

**Reporting To**:Environmental Services Manager

**Supervises**: Environmental Services Lead Operator & Utility Locator

**Responsibilities**:
1. Coordinate and direct the operations and maintenance activities supporting the optimal operation of water, wastewater, waste management and stormwater facilities

2. Oversee operations of the leachate treatment facility

3. Perform water quality and system tests and take corrective actions

4. Maintain, operate, and inspect water, wastewater, leachate, waste management & stormwater system assets and provide recommendations for repairs or replacements

5. Read flow meters, gauges, and other recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, turbidity content and chlorine levels

6. Observe and record information related to pumps, valves, motors, and other treatment equipment

7. Provide supervision and technical assistance to all staff; coordinate and assign work tasks in coordination with the Lead Operator; identify training and development opportunities for staff

8. Attend site meetings for pre-construction, end of warranty and commissioning of systems

9. Oversee the work of contractors to ensure workplace safety and the meeting of standards

10. Maintain data logs and perform laboratory analysis including MECP regulatory compliance sampling and submission

11. Perform lab work, analyze test results, and instrument readings and make adjustments

12. Respond to emergency callouts and coordinate repairs to equipment and services

13. Respond to escalated questions and complaints from stakeholders

14. Oversee facility inspections associated with the collection, disposal, treatment, and distribution of water and wastewater

15. Act as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) in rotation with the Lead Operator

16. Comply with and adhere to Ministry operating procedures, applicable policies, guidelines, regulations, and schedules to the facilities; advise the Ministry of exceedances with documentation in the absence of the Environmental Compliance Officer

17. Ensure that occupational health & safety practices are strictly observed and followed including review of safe work procedures, training of staff, and completion of required health & safety inspections

18. Assist in the development and preparation of policies, and procedures to ensure safety of staff and community members

19. Contribute to the budgeting process for operating and capital expenses for the department

20. Responsible for interviewing & hiring new employees, carrying out performance appraisals, directing the training & development of staff, providing coaching opportunities and carrying out disciplinary actions

21. Adhere to Municipality of Kincardine corporate policies and procedures

22. Complete other duties as assigned by Management

**Education & Experience Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Environmental Studies or a related field of study
- Wastewater Treatment and Collection - Class 2
- Water Treatment and Distribution - Class 2
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License
- Two (2) Years of experience in a supervisory position

**Employment Information**:

- Regular, Full-Time Position
- 40 Hours per Week
- Pay Grade #12 (Step 1 $42.35 per hour - Step 5 $51.99 per hour)
- Participation in the on-call rotation with the Environmental Services Lead Operator
