**JOB OPPORTUNITY: ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES LEAD OPERATOR**

The Environmental Services Lead Operator will be responsible for leading work to operate and maintain the municipal water, wastewater & stormwater systems.

**Reporting To**:Environmental Services Supervisor

**Supervises**: Environmental Services Operators

**Responsibilities**:
1. Perform operations and maintenance activities supporting the optimal operation of water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities

2. Maintain the operations of the leachate treatment facility

3. Perform water quality and system tests and take corrective actions

4. Maintain, operate, and inspect water, wastewater & stormwater system assets

5. Read flow meters, gauges, and other recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, turbidity content and chlorine levels

6. Observe and record information related to pumps, valves, motors, and other treatment equipment

7. Provide supervision and technical assistance to staff; coordinate and assign work tasks; identify training and development opportunities for staff

8. Act as a liaison between the Supervisor and staff; report performance issues and provide input for performance evaluations

9. Attend site meetings for pre-construction, end of warranty and commissioning of systems

10. Oversee the work of contractors to ensure workplace safety and the meeting of standards

11. Maintain data logs and perform laboratory analysis including MECP regulatory compliance sampling and submission

12. Perform lab work, analyze test results, and instrument readings and make adjustments

13. Store, handle, and mix chemicals and use in accordance with standard operating procedures or as dictated by water quality

14. Respond to emergency callouts and coordinate repairs to equipment and services

15. Respond to questions and complaints from the public

16. Assist with facility inspections associated with the collection, disposal, treatment, and distribution

17. Clean up spills of a variety of materials, including hazardous materials

18. Act as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) as necessary

19. Contribute to the design and implementation of Standard Operational Procedures

20. Comply with and adhere to Ministry operating procedures, applicable policies, guidelines, regulations, and schedules to the facilities

21. Comply with Municipality of Kincardine policies and procedures

22. Perform other tasks as assigned by management

**Education & Experience Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Environmental Studies or a related field of study
- Wastewater Treatment and Collection - Class 2
- Water Treatment and Distribution - Class 2
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License
- Two (2) Years of experience in a supervisory position
- A combination of education and certifications will be considered

- Demonstrated work history that highlights teamwork and a positive attitude

**Employment Information**:

- Regular, Full-Time Position
- 40 Hours per Week
- Compensation = Group 11 (Step 1 $38.50 per hour - Step 5 $47.27 per hour)
- Participation in the on-call rotation with the Environmental Services Supervisor

**Salary**: $38.50-$47.27 per hour
