**Job Title: Legal Assistant - Family Law Practice**

**Overview**:
As a Legal Assistant supporting a sole practitioner, you will be an integral part of the legal team, providing essential administrative and legal support. Your role will involve close collaboration with the lawyer, clients, and various court registries. Attention to detail, empathy, and a willingness to learn family law procedures are key to success in this position.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Client Interaction**:

- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Assist clients in completing necessary forms and documentation.

**Document Preparation**:
**Case Management**:

- Maintain organized case files and ensure all relevant documents are up-to-date.
- Organizing and filing documents in electronic folders using existing naming conventions and procedures (we operate a paperless practice).

**Calendar Management**:

- Manage the lawyer’s calendar, scheduling client meetings, court appearances, and deadlines.

**Court Filings**:

- Monitor and track the status of court filings and deadlines.

**Administrative Support**:

- Prepare and submit lawyer's expenses and maintain billing records.

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in family law or a related field is an asset, although training will be provided so prior experience is not necessary.
- Willingness to learn family law court procedures and a strong interest in litigation.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English is a must.
- Fluency in another language is an asset, especially Arabic.
- Empathy and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations with sensitivity.
- Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
- Tech savvy.
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft products and Adobe.
- Previous experience using Notion, CLIO, and/or Divorcemate is a plus.

**Additional Information**:

- This is a hybrid position where you will have the opportunity to work mostly from home with the occasional need to come into our Vancouver office. Therefore, you need to reside in the Lower Mainland and be willing to commute to the office when required.
- You will be provided with a company laptop for the duration of your employment.
