Bail Supervisor/court Worker/community Supervision Order Caseworker

**JOB POSTING**:
**RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES**:
**Bail Supervisor/Court Worker**:
- Assesses potential clients for suitability for the bail program
- Provides services for clients on bail supervision
- Create release plans for individuals charged by liaising with duty counsel and crown attorneys at court
- Promote effective use of services through innovation
- Interview clients at court in cell block prior to court appearance
- Obtain all relevant information from clients in a timely manner
- Assist clients with referrals to appropriate community service agencies and educational/vocational programs
- Promote the program among community services, in the Court, and in the community
- Maintain positive relationships with court personnel, probation officers, police, and other professionals involved with the client
- Testify in court, when required to do so
- Maintain client files, input information into case management system, and complete required court documentation
**Community Service Order Caseworker**:
- Interview and assess justice involved persons for suitable volunteer placements
- To monitor the ongoing progress of the clients on a regular basis
- Develop a case plan for each client and encourage the use of community resources for assistance, where appropriate
- Participate in staff meetings, team days, and other activities that foster positive working conditions and enhancement to service to clients
- Liaise with various levels of government and external agencies, provincial probation, and community organizations
- To document the ongoing progress of the clients on a regular basis
- Responsible for informing Probation/Parole Services for default of Community Service Order conditions and preparation of Breach Reports as well as attending court
- Prepare monthly reports for the Solicitor General
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A diploma in a related field or combination of education and relevant work experience
- Experience in supporting justice involved clients, case management, and case notes
- Specific education, training or certification in community corrections is an asset
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and risk management
- Knowledge of motivational, solution-focused and crisis intervention counselling techniques
- Strong organizational skills, able to track placements and clients across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience working with individuals from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, databases and internet - experience with Caseworks
- The use of a personal automobile (where necessary) to perform the duties of this position
