**Some of what you will do**:
The Regional Human Resources Director is accountable for aligning human resources strategy with regional business strategy and drives the HR agenda, partnering closely with Operations and Supply Chain leadership, COEs and other areas of the business. This senior leader will, along with the HR team that they lead, will effectively manage all people related functions including talent management, associate relations, recruitment, and training initiatives.

**Specifically, You Will**:

- Provide HR business leadership and direction to internal clients within designated client groups and support and influence regional leadership decisions.
- Coach and mentor HR team members and conduct all performance related conversations for direct reports. Facilitate and manage the performance of the HR team, ensuring continuous improvement and development, including individual development plans
- Establish and maintain credibility for HR by achieving desired results, delivering workable and timely solutions, fostering effective relationships, and communicating proactively for business success.
- Manage succession planning initiatives to fulfill regional management requirements and to ensure the development of key contributors.
- Provide senior level consultancy to senior leaders within the region on people management issues, identifying potential risks and making recommendations for action.
- Provide leadership on issues related to organizational culture. Ensure that HR policies and practices are designed and executed to reinforce our culture and encourage appropriate behaviors by management and non-management associates.

**Some of what you need**:

- Certificate / University Degree in Business or Human Resources Management is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership competence within a supervisory management context.
- Experience in retail or a multi-location business developing and delivering a broad range of HR services and solutions.
- Demonstrated track record of influencing senior management.
- Proven capability to keep abreast of market business and HR trends and how to translate to Staples.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to meet business needs.
- Strong HR Generalist skill set particularly in the areas of employee relations, talent management, engagement, recruitment, compensation, and training and development.
- Strong understanding of Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health & Safety and applicable Disability and WSIB/WBC/CSST Legislation, and relevant common law.
- Well-developed coaching and management skills, Ability to work independently.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and HRIS i.e. Peoplesoft.
- Possesses both strategic thinking capability and “hands on” HR plan implementation experience
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- 10 - 12 years previous progressive experience in a leadership/managerial Human Resources position. A very strong HR generalist skill set is required for success in this role, particularly in the areas of recruiting, training, employee relations and workplace investigation.
