iGaming Ontario leads the Province of Ontario’s new, dynamic, internet gaming (igaming) market that, in its second year generated $63 billion in total wagers, a 78% increase over its first year. This resulted in $2.2 billion in total gaming revenue from over 45 gaming operators and over 2.1 million active player accounts. Even more, in its second year, Ontario’s igaming market sustained almost 15,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the province. iGaming Ontario is excited to provide opportunities for co-operative post-secondary students to receive practical paid experience while earning course credits towards their academic program in co-op placements.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue and Financial Operations, you will assist with a variety of activities for both the Revenue and Financial Operations and Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis teams in a fast paced, collaborative, and supportive environment.
What can I expect in this role?
Supporting the Strategic Business Services function, you may have the opportunity to work on some or all of the following activities:
- Assist in establishing, executing and streamlining various finance-related processes within iGaming Ontario’s new Customer Management System.
- Assist with various tasks to ensure igaming operators deliver their required financial deliverables by established deadlines, in accordance with iGaming Ontario’s requirements.
- Assist in preparing and recording journal entries for various financial transactions, ensuring accuracy.
- Support invoice processing, verify payment details, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
- Support month-end activities including accruals and account reconciliation.
- Organize and maintain financial data, including updating spreadsheets and reporting.
- Support iGaming Ontario’s audits by preparing and retrieving audit samples, updating process narratives, and reviewing and addressing audit feedback.
- Assist in various process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and streamlining work.
How do I qualify?
- Enrolled in a post secondary co-op program with a focus in accounting or finance. Working towards a Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or a related program is an asset.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Mandatory
You must meet all eligibility criteria by the first day of employment:
**1. Co-op Student Status**: enrolled in co-operative education in a post-secondary school.
**2. Work Environment**: You must be living in the province of Ontario during the term of employment and you are required to work in office 3 days a week.
**3. Work Status**: Eligible to work in Canada.
