The Environmental Protection Division works to protect the human and environmental health of the province. Through the administration of the Environmental Management Act and the Integrated Pest Management Act and their regulations, the Environmental Standards Branch develops pollution prevention legislation, codes, regulations, standards and policies and is responsible for a wide array of environmental regulatory and non-regulatory programs in the following specialty areas:

- Extended producer responsibility programs;
- Municipal liquid and solid waste management;
- Hazardous and industrial waste management;
- Integrated pest management; and,
- Provincial air quality.

As an Environmental Management Analyst within this branch, you will support and assist with the development of ministry and/or provincial strategic policies, guidelines and legislation towards achieving Environmental Protection Division priority goals and objectives. Key responsibilities of this position include:

- Conducting research and analysis related to new policy initiatives, issues management and improvement of service delivery.
- Assisting with development of new programs and policy tools, including stakeholder consultation and engagement initiatives.
- Working closely with industry, local governments, First Nations/Indigenous peoples and/or other government agencies.
- Providing analysis on various business-related issues arising from programs or assessing impacts in development of new program areas.
- Supporting other policy areas within the branch.

**Job Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Graduate degree in environmental studies, resource management, applied science/natural sciences, public administration, communications or equivalent and one (1) year *directly related experience; OR
- Degree in environmental studies, resource management, applied science/natural sciences, public administration, communications, or equivalent and three (3) years’ *directly related experience; OR
- Diploma in a related discipline and five (5) years’ *directly related experience.

**Directly related experience includes one (1) or more of the following**:

- Experience in research, policy development, analysis and implementation in the area of environmental protection.
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.
- Experience in managing complex projects.
- In addition to the mandatory requirements above, **preference may also be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following**:

- A graduate degree.
- Experience in:

- extended producer responsibility programs;
- municipal liquid and solid waste management;
- air quality;
- integrated pest management;
- hazardous and industrial waste management.
- Experience in developing, managing and monitoring programs in the area of environmental protection.
- Experience negotiating solutions with multiple parties having competing interests.
- Experience with monitoring and evaluating performance outcomes.
- Experience in analyzing business administrative processes and assessing financial implications of regulatory requirements on different business interests.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit).
