**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Executive Director

Volunteer Supports Coordinator is responsible for mobilizing, coordinating, and implementing volunteer
resources to enhance palliative care programs and support in Grande Prairie and rural areas.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Volunteer Management:

- HR Skills - interview, recruit, and retain volunteers that are appropriately matched and trained for a position
- Training - facilitate appropriate training, tools, and resources to excel in their role, develop boundaries, and maintain personal wellbeing
- Scheduling - assess need, assign appropriate volunteer, follow-up, record in database
- Data Collection - ensure all volunteer files (office/database) are kept current and accurate. Ensure all volunteer hours are recorded and adhere to the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement
- Evaluation - monitor, support, motivate and accredit volunteers and their work
- Recognition - facilitate recognition events and nominations for awards for excellence
- Reporting - timely assessments, evaluations, reports and recommendation of the effectiveness of the volunteer program to the Executive Director
- Awareness - attend committees, meetings, and community events to increase awareness of the volunteer role and the benefit of volunteers
- Ability to assess patient/family needs for volunteers
- Build and maintain relationships internally and externally
- Assist with research and writing of volunteer policies/procedures, appropriate volunteering opportunities, role descriptions, risk assessments
- Work within budget guidelines and submit appropriate documentation and receipts
- Provides schedule of planned activities and outcomes to facilitate volunteer programs to Executive Director
- Advises the Executive Director of any barriers or issues regarding the volunteer program
- Maintains current knowledge of legislation and policy related to volunteering to make recommendations to make change
- Provide stories, testimonials, photos for publications including Newsletter, social media, and website

**Education and Experience**:

- Experience in volunteer management and community engagement is an asset
- Relevant experience in community development, program planning and development is an asset
- Knowledge of the Grande Prairie and area community and service networks
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Marketing or Volunteer Management or equivalent is an asset
- Experience with smart devices (iPads, tablets, Google, and Alexa Hubs)
- Experience with social media relations
- Demonstrated organizational and public relations skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to address sensitive topics
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Leadership skills
- Ability to plan, organize and implement events with mínimal supervision
- Ability to be flexible and work well in an ever-changing environment
- Must be able to achieve established goals in assigned role

**Requirements**:

- Current (within 3 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening after hire
- Ability to travel and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Flexibility to work some evenings and/or weekends when required
- Willingness to participate in educational opportunities within the end of life and volunteer management fields

**Additional Information**:

- This is a part-time position of 15-20 hours per week to start
- Hours may be variable depending on workload
- This position in contingent on obtaining grant funding

**Job Type**: Part-time
