Position Description

Where you’ll work. As your primary place of work is the corporate office located in downtown Vancouver, we are looking for an individual living in or within commuting distance of our corporate office.

**Responsibilities**:
Implement processes for coordinating an enterprise response to information requests from sustainability rating agencies and/or analysts who assess Mercer International’s sustainability performance (MSCI/ ISS/ Sustainalytices/ EcoVadis/ S&P/ Moody’s, and others)

Monitor external sustainability reporting frameworks and standards and identify areas of opportunity.

Assist in the management of ESG Key Performance Indicators Control Matrix and the execution of the annual assurance engagement

Manage data and information, conducting data analysis and providing insights to support business decision making processes as well as the annual Sustainability report

Research sustainability and climate topics to support development of policies, programs, strategies, monitoring, reporting, thought leadership and/or marketing

Actively track progress on the organization’s aspirational goals and report on milestone achievements and opportunities for improvement

Support preparation for quarterly Board of Directors presentation

Assist in setting annual goals and reporting on progress on previous targets

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

1 -3 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or a related field

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Sustainability, Business, Economics, or Engineering

Experience and/or intermediate knowledge in GHG quantification, sustainability reporting, impact measurement and data analytics

Knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, TCFD and SASB) is essential

GRI Professional Certification is considered an asset

Completion of Level 2 Fundamentals of Sustainable Accounting (FSA) is considered an asset

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills

Strong relationship management skills

Operates effectively in a fast paced, high stress environment with evolving expectations
