Reporting to the laboratory director Dr. Manousaki, the bioinformatician/data manager will identify and analyze genetic variants from genotyping and sequencing data (exome and whole genome). Using this data, he/she will further develop and implement polygenic risk scores. The research projects explore the impact of genetic variants on complex traits affecting growth and cardiometabolic health in childhood. - Identification of genomic variants by conducting genome-wide association studies -GWAS. The data to be analyzed include genotyping data and sequencing data (exome and whole genome) from large biobanks, such as the UK Biobank.
- Calculate polygenic risk scores and test them in linear and logistic regression analyses.
- Conduct Mendelian randomization studies.
- Manage and coordinate the laboratory’s bioinformatics work.
- Develop and write data processing procedures in the laboratory.
- Organize and prioritize data on servers (Compute Canada).
- Document and communicate the analysis process, results, tools and techniques used;
- Interact with laboratory members to develop analysis strategies.
**Requirements and skills**
- Level of education: Master’s or PhD in bioinformatics or equivalent;
- Experience in coding on one of the following languages: Linux, python, R, etc.;
- Knowledge of epidemiology;
- Ability to work in a group on several projects;
- Good skills in “Data management”;
- Knowledge of machine learning is an asset;
- Professional experience of more than 2 years is an asset;
- Experience in genetics and genomics.

Sous la responsabilité du directeur du laboratoire Dre Manousaki, le bioinformaticien (ne)/data-manager devra identifier et analyser des variants génétiques à partir des données de génotypage et de séquençage (exome et génome complet). Utilisant ces données, il/elle devra davantage développer et implémenter des scores de risque polygéniques. - Gestion et coordination du travail en bio-informatique du laboratoire.

- Organiser et hiérarchiser les données sur les serveurs (Compute Canada).
- Documenter et communiquer le processus d’analyse, résultats, outils et techniques utilisés;
- Interagir avec les membres du laboratoire afin d’élaborer des stratégies d’analyses.
**Exigences et aptitudes**
- Niveau d’études : Maitrise ou PhD en bioinformatique ou équivalent;
- Expérience en code sur un des langages suivant : Linux, python, R, etc. ;
- Connaissance en épidémiologie;
- Capacité de travailler en groupe sur plusieurs projets;
- Bonne compétence en « Data management »;
- Connaissance en apprentissage automatique (machine learning) est un atout;
- Une expérience professionnelle de plus de 2 ans est un atout;
- Une expérience en génétique et génomique.
