Position Summary:
The First Nations Fisheries Council is seeking an energetic, organized, hard-working individual to join our Policy and Fisheries Management Unit (PFMU) as a Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinators function is to maintain strong relationships through supporting FNFC processes, liaise with First Nations organizations, government agencies, and other FNFC partners to advance and support the interests of BC First Nations as it relates to aquatic resources management, fisheries, fish habitat, and policy. Specifically, the Program Coordinator will provide support for initiatives in fisheries policy and management processes, business development, as well as other technical and cross-sectoral requirements as needed. The Project Coordinator will have the opportunity to gain experience and skills in many areas including program administration, project execution, policy analysis, aquatic resource management, and building collaborative working relationships. In addition, this role presents the opportunity to demonstrate leadership, adaptability, flexibility, and support in the development of broader FNFC collaborative initiatives, communication materials, and report/briefing research, analysis, and writing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee and implement the coordination of meetings, forums, workshops, conference calls, and other events, including logístical planning and coordination.
- Work closely with managers and sector teams to support the implementation of FNFC projects and initiatives.
- Work with the manager to understand and assist with tracking all work and develop workflow processes.
- Actively troubleshoot and modify activities/schedules as needed.
- Work closely cross-organizationally, including with Coordinators, Managers, and Senior Managers, to ensure program implementation is consistent with the strategic development of the organization.
- Oversee and prepare communications with participants, including meeting packages, meeting minutes, and preparation of summaries/reports.
- Engage with First Nations, Government, NGOs, and others to manage/track participation, communications, etc. as needed.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with FNFC partners, advancing collaborative activities, program design, and implementation of PFMU sector activities.
- Track and organize key documents, communications, etc. (file management).
- Track budget expenses within an approved project budget.
- Provide general support for FNFC programs and initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary degree in environmental studies, resource management, public administration, Indigenous studies, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with BC First Nations communities and/or First Nations organizations
- Experience conducting research, analysis, preparing briefing notes, developing recommendations, and drafting correspondence and comprehensive reports
- Working knowledge of aquatic resource management and related legislation and policy, including issues related to Pacific salmon.
- Working knowledge of BC First Nations and their constitutional rights regarding aquatic resources.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Ability to take initiative and demonstrate leadership
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to interact professional with a wide range of individuals and organizations

What We Offer:

- Salary/year - $50,000 - $60,000 - commensurate with experience
