Job Summary
The Parking Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing daily and routine facilities maintenance, testing and basic troubleshooting of parking equipment and devices and ensures that all parking and traffic control devices at UBC are functioning properly; responsible for minor and major maintenance and troubleshooting of parking machines, traffic control devices, equipment and the system. The Parking Facilities Maintenance Worker is also responsible for the daily coin collection and downloading of operational data information from parking pay equipment, the processing of monies for parking related fees and the preparation and maintenance of cash floats. Provides a clean and safe operating environment for the users of UBC Parking Facilities in support of the UBC Traffic and Parking Rules.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Facilities Manager.

Work Performed- Performs daily routine and complex maintenance and repair of all parking equipment and traffic control devices on campus.- Performs testing, diagnosing and troubleshooting for all equipment and devices.- Configures hardware settings and writes hardware upgrades on EEPROMs and Flash memory and programs pay parking machines using laptops and handheld devices.- Records and reports any equipment, devices and facility deficiencies.- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of parking pay equipment, signage and related supplies and informs supervisor of restocking or operational requirements. Places orders for inventory supplies and materials according to established practices.- Installs and maintains campus parking signage and decals.- Installs, maintains and produces campus traffic control devices.- Ensures clean, safe and functional facilities. Performs facility inspections, custodial duties and litter removal. Operates cleaning equipment to ensure cleanliness of Parkades.- Ensures the safety of Parking Facilities during inclement weather (using salt spreaders and completing small snow removal projects).- Ensures adequate lighting in Parking Facilities by replacing lightbulbs as needed.- Responds to trouble calls.- Collects cash and downloads operational data from parking pay equipment on a daily basis and secures collections as required.- Processes daily cash collected from the pay machines, meters, office, parkades, impounds and prepares daily deposits and prepares and maintains floats for office, parkades and special events.- Verifies monies collected as not counterfeit and reports cases of counterfeit bills and coins to appropriate authorities as soon as detected; reports trends of counterfeit monies by location collected.- Participates in special parking events, assisting with parking operations and customer service as required.- Provides assistance with wayfinding, parking and UBC information to patrons and visitors.- Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualification and requirements of positions in this classification.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Works within well-defined guidelines and procedures, exercising some judgment in establishing priorities and carrying tasks through to completion. Poor work practices or failure to report problems could result in poor customer service as well as a disruption in vehicle access, traffic flow, and revenue generation.
