Reporting to the Senior Leader or designate, the Leader, Clinical Education - New Grad Support role is an innovator, knowledge translator, facilitator and change agent accountable for developing and delivering excellence in clinical education. The scope of practice of the Leader, Clinical Education - New Grad Support is broad and complex working within and across clinical programs and professions at C&W to provide planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of specialized education programs/projects that contribute to the achievement of clinical area/program/Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) goals and objectives, accreditation mandates and the alignment with the C&W strategic action plans. The Leader, Clinical Education - New Grad Support monitors and tracks project progress according to project plan makes recommendations to the Senior Leader on changes required to facilitate a successful outcome regarding major barriers encountered.
This position will require the leader to assist with site wide implementation, coordination and evaluation of the New Graduate Transition Program. You will ensure the new graduate transition program deliverables are completed on time and on budget.
What you'll do
Work under the guidance of Senior Leaders and collaboratively with program leaders, and staff to assess program and cross-program clerical education needs and priorities and develops learning strategies, education plans and standards to meet those needs. Implements and evaluates resulting learning programs.
Provide education, consultation, guidance and support curriculum design, materials development and effective learning strategies including teaching, facilitation and simulation and provides on-the-job support to clerical staff. Assist with site-wide implementation and coordination of initiatives. Establishes evaluation plans using logic and Kirkpatrick models to ensure learning programs are meeting learning outcomes.
Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of assigned competency-based learning programs for orientation and continuing education of clerical staff, integrating these with policies and procedures and the performance management process. Ensure the development and updating of resources to support such education in order to develop and maintain staff competency with changing procedures, processes and electronic health record.
Lead the review of existing education programs and projects to inform current curriculum development and implementation. Engage with leadership, academic and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality specialty education design that is in alignment with provincial, PHSA, and Child Health BC priorities or needs, such as human resource planning, accreditation, and competencies.
What you bring
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree of Science in Nursing or other clinical profession
Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience including two (2) years of education experience.
Strong communication, coaching and program evaluation skills
**You will also have**:
Knowledge of learning and evaluation models such as logic and Kirkpatrick. Superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience using electronic health records is an asset.
Proven ability to lead staff to achieve program goals and objectives.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs and work under pressure of deadlines.
Significant knowledge and proven experience with program development, evaluation and program management.
Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, develop resolutions and support remedial action.
Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents - including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - and how they intersect across the health care system.
