**Job Title: Distribution Manager**

**Reports To: Director of Logistics**

***The Distribution Manager is responsible for leading, optimizing and coordinating all activities relating to Distribution at Sporting Life Group. This includes all 3PL and retail distribution operations. The role will liase with providers, vendors and internal stakeholders to manage inventory and deliver product in a timely and cost effective manner. The role will work collaboratively with vendors, Compliance, Merchants, Finance and Transportation to ensure performance standards are being met and analyze ways to reduce costs while optimizing the efficient flow of products to/from 3rd party distribution, stores and Ecommerce customers. In addition, working with Planning, Replenishment and Merchant teams, the role will be responsible for managing the fulfillment of allocated inventory to the stores. Effective communication across all stakeholder groups, both external and internal is key to success in the role.

**Description of Job Responsibilities**:

- Build a strong partnership with the 3rd party distribution providers and internal stakeholders.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts with the 3rd party distribution providers.
- Work with 3rd party distribution providers to manage inbound goods, storage and outbound goods.
- Act as a conduit between SLG and the 3PL, managing priorities, service level agreements and expectations.
- Lead planning sessions and process improvements with the Merchant Teams to ensure all future activities are planned and monitored for efficient execution.
- Provide appropriate forecasts to the 3PL to allow efficient labour planning. Work with internal teams on forecasts and optimization thereto.
- Work with the 3PL on warehouse SLA issues such as late shipments and backorders. Trace late shipments to stores and customers.
- Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for management.
- Create, monitor, and report on daily, weekly and monthly distribution key performance indicators. Work with cross functional teams, both internal and external, to remediate issues.
- Manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers.
- Provide monthly updates on the status of projects and give progress reports on other process improvement initiatives.
- Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs officials to ensure compliance.
- Ensure accuracy and on time shipping during vastly changing volumes (seasonal peaks).

**Essential Requirements and Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with a focus on retail, marketing or finance.
- Minimum 5 years working in Distribution at a managerial level.
- Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation management.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in managing third-party logistics providers.
- Solid project management skills are essential.
- Experience managing multiple banners is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills—data driven insights are a must.
- Good financial and business awareness.
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
