**The Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) team part of Eaton Corporation Canada, has an immediate interim full-time opening for an Operations Manager. This position will be located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is anticipated to be 6 months in duration.**
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the CPDI business in Canada. This includes day to day management of CPDI Eaton Care, CDPI Supply Chain and CDPI warehousing teams to ensure that Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing and related activities are accomplished in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
**What you’ll do**:
Operations Management:
- Manage local facility with support from Division Facilities
- Facilities maintenance
- Establishes and maintain the operations equipment maintenance program to ensure that high value items are well maintained (Carousel, lift trucks, stretch wrappers, dock levelers etc.)
- Recommend and provide justification for new equipment purchases and timing for replacement of older equipment
- Participate in the monthly forecast meetings and own Inventory forecasting in collaboration with commercial side of the CPDI business
- Produce monthly metrics regarding order volume, order entry, cycle times for team performance measures (inc. customer data & analytics as needed)
People Management:
- Organize and direct activities related to CPDI’s Eaton Care, Supply Chain and Warehousing operations
- Provide direction and guidance to the staff and complete Performance appraisals
- Ensure employees are cross trained, work efficiently and function as a team
- Oversee workforce scheduling to ensure adequate coverage
Process Development:
- Maintain a high level of on time, accurate shipments to enhance customer satisfaction
- Ensure that procedures are developed and in place to meet all plant Safety requirements and Government regulations
- Identify and evaluate opportunities to enhance operations being sure to advantage of new or improved processes/ technology
- Manage inventory with commercial recommendations for inventory management opportunities
- Develop and maintain Warehouse, Eaton Care and Supply Chain procedures and practices to meet or exceed operational objectives
- Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and for improved inventory management and recommend actions
- Participate in project planning/implementing product phase in - phase out activities and recommend methodologies to complete the process efficiently
- Manage Backlog though Milestone dating and follow-up
- Coordinate support and resources with other Eaton support organizations, including credit, customer financial services, and CPDI US
- Monitor service providers such as Transportation carriers and provide feedback to Transportation & NDC Managers when service levels deteriorate
- Keep Transportation Department, BIS, Materials etc. informed of irregularities that impact their duties
- Work with Transportation Dept. to maintain transportation lead times to expectations
Project Management:
- Maintain a high level of BOH inventory accuracy
- Maintain 24-hour material receiving cycle to ensure product is available for Customer or Plant orders
- Ensure that the department operates efficiently while keeping costs in line with budgets
- Ensure that all warehouse equipment is well maintained and safe to operate and that employee safety and work practice training is being completed
- Identify and respond to Order Entry problems, inappropriate shipping method requests, inefficient or costly approaches
- Seek resolution to “inbound” shipping errors - may communicate with suppliers/carriers or provide information to others for their use (Materials, Quality, Transportation)
- Administer the Cycle Count program - investigates and verifies each variance and initiates actions to resolve discrepancy
- Handle special shipping requests and respond to after-hours Emergency Shipment
- Provide budget recommendations and manages warehouse budget
- Sources/recommends suppliers for shipping supplies and other related services
**Qualifications**:
**Basic Qualifications**:
- College diploma or degree
- 4 years’ experience in a Supervisory role
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- 5 years of Warehousing, Materials or Operations Management experience or a combination of all
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement techniques
- Professional CPIM designation
- Professional technical designation or certification
**Skills**:
- Proven leadership qualities and demonstrated performance
- Strong motivational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Manufacturing & Quality Control processes/procedures
- Demonstrated commercial awareness skills and knowledge
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
