**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Lumber Yard & Delivery Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service by providing efficient and accurate loading and unloading of transactions related to lumbering. Lumber Yard & Delivery Associates maintain the clean, orderly appearance of the yard and its vehicles. This position is also responsible to assist with the delivery of material to customers in accordance with safety regulations.

**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Yard Maintenance and Merchandising:_
- Load and unload materials, taking all necessary safety precautions when handling freight, tools and equipment.
- Maintaining cleanliness in the yard.
- Ensuring inventory is accurate, neat and orderly.
- Assist customers in handling of large and heavy items.
- Restock lumber bins, sheds and other products when they are close to empty.
- Assist in interior warehouses when needed.
- Delivery: _
- Prepare customer orders, pick product, secure skids, banding and wrapping according to weather and conditions.
- Prepare vehicle for delivery. Ensure products are protected from the elements and are safely and properly loaded.
- Ensure all accompanying paperwork is available.
- Operate vehicle to transport material to private homes and construction sites. Park vehicle in designated area(s) and obtain necessary receiver signature once unloaded.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance including documented daily inspections and ensuring safety equipment, straps and paperwork are in place.
- Follow all safe operating procedures. Advise supervisor of potential hazards.
- Accountable for working safely and ensures that all work is conducted in compliance with health and safety policies and legislation.
- General:_
- Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as processing paperwork.
- Operate two-way radio and cellphone to receive instruction and provide updates.
- Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
- Work on additional duties, special projects and assignments as assigned by the Lumber Yard Manager, Lumber Desk Manager or General Manager.
- Always maintain professional demeanor and behave in a manner befitting company policy and expectations.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Must hold a valid “G” level driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Be able to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Capability to safely lift/move materials weighing up to 100lbs.
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to understand customer requirements.
- Strong reading and comprehension of written and printed materials, including information presented in numerical form.
- Must have good knowledge of the layout of city roadways, maintain awareness of road restrictions and can source alternative routes.
- Forklift Certification is an asset.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Reports directly to the Yard Manager.
- Standing/walking for 8+ hours.
- Lifting and/or carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis. Merchandise items may vary in weight up to 100lb.
- Lifting and turning repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Lifting above the shoulder, from floor to shoulder and floor to waist.
- Walking and carrying at the same time & pushing/pulling as required.
- Twisting, turning, reaching and working above shoulder level.
- Working outside in all types of weather.
- Exposure to driving hazards.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 42.5 per week
