As part of TD Insurance, the Data, Analytics, and Insights (DAI) group supports internal business partners by providing valuable insights and analysis.
Within DAI, the Claims Insights team is a trusted partner to operational, actuarial, and executive stakeholders (Claims Operations, SEO (Strategy, Enablement & Optimization), Corporate Actuarial, Pricing, Product, Finance, Analytics and Modeling, and others). The Claims Insights team leverages and interprets data to provide business-specific insights and consultative support to their partners, helping guide decision making and strategic planning. Relied on to investigate emerging frequency and severity trends, the Claims Insights team generates broadly distributed reporting on internal and external trends, providing in-depth analysis and detailed insights to both operational and actuarial partners in support of planning, forecasting, severity management and capacity management.

**Job Description**:
The Business Insights Analyst is a key member of the Claims Insights team. You will leverage your skills and experience to contribute to the delivery of insights and analysis on a host of projects and initiatives. You will explore many aspects of claims data and claims processes with opportunities to interact with partners across the organization. You will develop a deep understanding of claims severity and frequency trends, drivers, and components while contributing to multiple complex analyses.
Key accountabilities
Under the supervision of the Manager of Claims Insights:

- Contribute on key initiatives related to claims severity and severity management, capacity and workload management, and the development of innovative dashboards with relevant partners.
- Collaborate on end-to-end analytics solutions over a range of complexity: from the initial demand to the final delivery of reporting, analysis, or visualization.
- Be comfortable interacting with business partners across the organization on a regular basis.
- Develop and improve analytic tools and methods to support insight generation.
- Leverage visualization to communicate insights and illustrate key trends and concepts.
- Clearly communicate claims trends with an understanding of the broader context.
- Understand the actuarial and operational aspects of claims results and trends.
- Participate in the timely delivery of recurrent analysis on claims frequency and severity results. Be able to summarize the results and explain the variances.
- Perform analyses on claims results and communicate the results effectively.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or relevant discipline.
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience (Actuarial, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, Statistics, General Insurance Claims, or related fields)
- Excellent academic results could be considered.
- Possesses sound judgement and an analytical mind.
- Problem-solving and analysis skills with consistent rigor in quality of work.
- Effective communicator with the ability to clearly deliver the results of analyses.
- Highly adaptable and able to have effective discussions with various stakeholders and partners.
- Creative in finding new solutions to complex problems.
- Effective in managing multiple priorities with strong organization and time management skills
- Effective in a team setting.
- Quick learner and able to adapt to change.
- Independent and persistent.
- Strong programming skills (SQL, Python, R).
- Proficient with PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.
- General Insurance knowledge is an asset.
- Claims knowledge is an asset.
- Knowledge of TDI Data Warehouse an asset.
- Shows initiative and a desire to win.
- Demonstrates TD values.

This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or who require services in a language other than French.
