**Who we need**

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Accepts and works within the framework of the Institute’s stated vision, mission, values and goals.
- Supports instructors to facilitate and deliver Therapeutic Martial Arts groups.
- Supports instructors to teach psychoeducational components in an engaging way, accounting for variations in age and learning needs.
- Assists with teaching a range of physical activities in a compelling way, accounting for variations in age, learning styles and physical abilities.
- Helps manage challenging client behaviors in a non-shaming way consistent with the therapeutic martial arts program and CDI’s expectations.
- Helps assess and manage physical, social, and emotional risks in the dojo.
- Ensures proper client documentation is completed as required (ie-incident reports, group reports and electronic case notes)
- Communicates client information and concerns, including child protection concerns, to the Program Coordinator.
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of job (written/verbal/implied).
- Performs other assigned duties in the interests of the agency.

**Minimum Qualifications & Skills**
- Full COVID-19 vaccination required for all staff.
- At least 1 year of experience working with youth, preferably in a therapeutic or educational setting.
- Experience in the field of learning disabilities and mental health (LDMH) OR an interest/ability to receive professional development in this area.
- Ability to safely and confidently help demonstrate physical skills, including but not limited to martial arts techniques, calisthenics, yoga, stretches, etc.
- Excellent initiative, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work positively and calmly, collaboratively, and in partnership with families and youth.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a respectful and aware manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Commitment to continuous learning.

**Working Conditions**
- Governed by concurrent and dynamic deadlines, despite conflicting priorities and frequent interruptions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients including at least one evening per week.

**Compensation**: CDI offers a competitive wage at $ 25.00 per hour. This is a casual non-bargaining position.
