As the Accounts Payable Specialist, you’ll primarily perform the accounts payable function for the company related to invoice receipt through posting. Additionally, this role will act as a key support person to Accounting Manager with reporting and various tasks related to the AP function. This position is ideal for a go-getter that asks questions to better understand the why’s behind the entries and someone who would like to experience a fast-paced, retail environment.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Monitor AP inbox daily, receive preferred vendor invoices, verify contract amounts/Pos/log sheets
- Record day to day AP transactions using NetSuite
- Investigate AP invoicing errors and request revisions from preferred vendors as required
- Assist with Production payments processing
- Lead AP automation transformation project
- Prepare weekly payment batches for cheques and EFTs
- Reconciliation of past due balances
- Run weekly workflow history reports for open invoices and POs
- Assist with the month end close processes (preparation of journal entries, recurring entries and accruals)
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts when necessary
- Assist external auditors as part of our year-end audit by preparing working paper files that support the financial statements and responding to inquiries
- Preparing and submitting government tax remittances
- Maintain paper and electronic filing system to provide accurate paperwork records
- Build relationships and effectively communicate with suppliers, cross functionally and within the department
- Take initiatives to improve processes and internal controls
- Adapts to changes quickly
- Ad hoc duties as assigned

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma (preferably in Business Administration or Accounting);
- 1-2 years of full cycle accounting experience will be preferred
- Working knowledge of Netsuite and Tipalti will be preferred
- Excellent communications skills, both in verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and able to prioritize tasks
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and results-oriented
- Strong work ethic, energetic, positive attitude and flexible
- Ability to work independently, and enjoys a collaborative and creative work environment
