**Main Purpose & Function**

The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Planner supports the implementation of programs and actions in the City of Vancouver’s Transportation Demand Management Action Plan. The position helps advance the City’s Transportation Demand Management work plan in order to increase the use of sustainable transportation and reduce private vehicle trips. Responsibilities include program development and implementation, research, and stakeholder engagement.

**Key Contacts and Reporting Relationships**

The TDM Planner reports to the Senior Stakeholder Relations and Promotions Lead in the Community Transportation Branch. Key external contacts include TransLink, ICBC, community organizations, businesses, and tourism operators.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
- Leads and supports the implementation of programs and actions in the Transportation Demand Management Action Plan, as part of the City’s Climate Emergency Action Plan.
- Ensures organizational alignment with other key citywide strategies including Transportation 2040, the Healthy City Strategy, the Renewable City Strategy and the Vancouver Plan.
- Leads initiatives to help employers increase employee use of active transportation and transit.
- Conducts research related to transportation behaviour change including supervising surveys, formulating recommendations and preparing reports.
- Coordinates engagement and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders including TransLink (TravelSmart), ICBC, community organizations, businesses, and tourism operators.
- Supports conversations across departments within the City of Vancouver in relation to strategies to manage transportation demand and reduce private vehicle use.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

**Qualifications**

Education and Experience:

- A post-secondary degree in planning recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners and a minimum of one years’ experience in the planning field; or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
- Experience developing, leading and implementing successful transportation demand management initiatives and behaviour-change programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Considerable knowledge of best practices for transportation demand management.
- Considerable knowledge of the motivators for and barriers to taking active transportation and transit.
- Good knowledge and understanding of governmental structures and systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including presenting on active transportation and transit initiatives.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop, launch and monitor programs.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work across disciplines and in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and professional software.
