If this sounds like you, then we are looking for a Communications Officer to join the Marketing and Communications team

**POSITION FUNCTION**:
The **Communications Officer** supports internal and external communications efforts by providing communications expertise with a strong focus on writing, editing and content development. This position also works with the digital team developing and editing social media and website content.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Builds relationships with staff to better understand their communications needs
- Assists in the development and execution of tactical communications plans and related activities
- Performs writing, proofreading and editing services within deadline
- Develops and edits content and adapts/reshapes for multiple audiences
- Knows how to interview people to gather and write their story
- Knows how to write for different mediums including a news release, blog, social media, annual report, newsletters, campaigns, brochures
- Cultivates relationships with other community organizations and the media to strategically promote the work of MOSAIC
- Coordinates and updates communications editorial/event calendar ensuring cross pollination of content across appropriate communication channels
- Photography and design backfill may be required
- May be required to supervise others

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Undergraduate degree and/or experience in related field (e.g. journalism, communications, marketing communications)
- Minimum of three to 5 years of experience in communications or journalism
- Expert level English writing and grammar
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in writing, editing, proofreading, content development, media relations and communications planning
- Experience working with MS Office Suite and Adobe
- Knows MailChimp (or willing to learn)
- Knows basic photography
- Working knowledge of social media best practices and tools
- Working knowledge of WordPress (or willing to learn)
- Extremely well-organized and able to set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

**HOURS**:
Full time, 35 hours/week

May be required to work the occasional evening or weekend
