**The opportunity**:
The Office of the Vice-President (Indigenous) is looking for an Indigenous Faculty Success Coordinator. This position will support the recruitment, onboarding, retention, promotion, and success of Indigenous faculty at the University of Manitoba. The Indigenous Faculty Success Coordinator will help Indigenous faculty feel supported at the University of Manitoba while ensuring equity over the hire-to-retire “life-cycle” of Indigenous faculty members.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
DUE TO THE SIGNIFICANT CULTURAL REQUIREMENT OF THE POSITION, THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED FOR INDIGENOUS CANDIDATES. Applicants must declare on their cover letter how they identify as Indigenous (status/non-status First Nations, Inuit or Métis) and articulate their relationships to and with Indigenous nations, governments, and communities.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required.
- Master's degree in related discipline preferred.
- Two to three years of directly related experience required.
- Extensive experience within an academic setting, specifically academic administration and HR.
- Thorough and extensive knowledge of the university system, policies, and procedures.
- Comprehensive understanding of academic responsibilities (research and scholarly works, teaching, and service).
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication (oral and written) skills required.
- Skills in creative problem solving and demonstrating attention to detail required.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines required.
- Ability to work in a highly confidential environment and to exercise good independent judgment and action required. Ability to adapt to changing work and priorities required.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum direction, as well as be a member of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, and members of the general public from different cultures and generations in a confidential, tactful, polite, respectful and competent manner required.
- Ability to prepare and facilitate/deliver workshops and presentations required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
