**Location**: VIH Aerospace, North Saanich, BC, Canada

**General Job Definition**:
Component Shop Technicians are involved in the overhaul, refurbishment, repair, modification, inspection, testing and certification of aviation components of the mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, electrical and pneumatic aircraft systems as well as brakes and wheel assemblies. These technicians must have an understanding of mechanical systems and be able to interpret technical manuals and drawings and maintain aeronautical product in accordance with the MPM.

**Key Job Responsibilities**:
Component Shop Technicians must be thoroughly familiar with safe work practices and the rules and regulations affecting their work and workplace.

Involved in the set-up and operation of tools and equipment and some semi-automatic processes.

Ensure aeronautical product maintenance is conducted and recorded in accordance with applicable manuals, maintenance schedules, applicable standards, practices, and specifications.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Highschool diploma

Mechanical aptitude

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Successful completion of a manufacturer’s overhaul training course or equivalent.

Bell Helicopter Training Academy Training. (Component overhaul)

Ability to demonstrate documented practical experience (minimum 2 years) of the aeronautical products being maintained.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
Has ability to read and understand technical manuals and instructions, and able to use technical drawings, data, and standards.

Familiar with and follows shop safety procedures and standards.

Able to work productively within a multi-disciplinary team.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other VIH Group departments.
