Regina Airport Authority (RAA) manages and oversees the Regina International Airport. We are the 16th busiest Airport in Canada and a not-for-profit organization that operates under a long-term lease with the Federal Government. The RAA has a mandate to operate a safe and secure airport, while looking to grow for the greater benefit of the community.

RAA is looking to establish an eligibility list for up to one (1) year for the position of Firefighter. The eligibility list will be taken into consideration for future Firefighter positions that may be posted.

D E S C R I P T I O N S U M M A R Y

Responsible for firefighting, rescue services, emergency medical response and fire prevention functions. The role is responsible for rapidly and safely performing duties in hazardous environments and emergency conditions. The primary objective is to save lives in the event of an aircraft accident or incident. A secondary responsibility is to preserve property and evidence. Other duties include checks and light maintenance of equipment, facilities, fire trucks, and education on fire prevention and safety.

M I N I M U M Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S / C O N D I T I O N S O F E M P L O Y M E N T
- Current IFSAC or ProBoard certification of the NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2.
- Minimum of three (3) years firefighting experience.
- IFSAC or ProBoard NFPA 1002 and NFPA 1003 certifications desired.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
- No previous criminal background for which a pardon has not been granted.
- A clear pre-employment National Criminal Record through Regina Airport Authority’s background screening process.
- Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance, Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP), an Industry Canada Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate and a Firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) within the prescribed employment probationary period.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment Physical Fitness Program.
- Assessed as Fit for Work through the pre-employment medical examination.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 3 driver’s license with an air brake endorsement or equivalent with a clean driver’s abstract.

**Responsibilities**:

- While promoting safety awareness, perform all duties with an ownership attitude in compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Assist with ensuring appropriate incident command response procedures are carried out in the event of an emergency.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s Mission, Vision, and Corporate Values.
- Respond to operational emergency situations during and after standard hours of work for the purposes of resolving immediate concerns to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the airport.
- Provide medical response when requested.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and National Fire Protection Association standards.
- Respond to all emergencies within the emergency response plan.
- Participate in internal emergency response training.
- Operate emergency response equipment used in fire suppression and rescue.
- Respond to troubleshoot calls and conduct wildlife control.
- Maintain station facilities and perform preventative maintenance on all firefighting apparatus.
- Participate in firefighter training program in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
- Support the development and implementation of fire safety guidelines, evacuation plans and exercises for corporate owned buildings and structures.
- Support and promote fire prevention initiatives.
- Participate in ongoing Firefighter Emergency Response Service vehicle familiarization training.
- Participate in mutual-aid training initiatives.
- Perform fire and occupational safety and heath (OSH) inspections of corporate owned buildings.
- Perform Reduced Visibility Operations (RVO) and Fuel Tank Inspections.
- Perform Airfield Compliance Plan (ACP) Level 1 Inspections (April 1 - October 31) administer the Airport Traffic Directives Program.
- Administer the hot work permit program.
- Participate in the Firefighter Physical Fitness Program.
- Provide feedback and follow Standard Operating Guidelines and Procedures.
- Participate in the testing and maintenance of fire suppression systems, alarms, records, and sprinkler tagout program.
- Participate in Quality Assurance Audits as assigned.
- Ensure safe storage of supplies respecting WHMIS and Federal Halocarbon Regulations.
- May be required to take on acting responsibilities of other positions within the department.
