**About the position**:Reporting to the Director, Healthy Foundations, the Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and review of a comprehensive Emergency Management program. Using a strategic approach, the Emergency Management Coordinator will work to develop and maintain emergency plans, documents, and policies mandated by the Ontario Public Health Standards and the Board of Health.

**We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable emergency response professional to perform** meaningful work that will support a healthier community for the residents of Brantford and Brant County.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintaining accurate written and electronic records, reports and correspondence.
- Responsible for program execution, evaluation, and quality assurance - from developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating the goals and objectives and following appropriate protocols and policies as prescribed in the Ontario Public Health Standards and other applicable legislation.
- Supports the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including the Medical Officer of Health and the Chief Executive Officer, to ensure the Health Unit’s ability to mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover from a significant event.
- Provides strategic direction to the key stakeholders at the senior leadership team level as well as at an operational level for Board of Health in the event of an emergency situation or significant incident.
- Ensures emergency planning and preparedness. Utilizes Ministry of Health’s Emergency Management Guideline, operational and strategic plans as a guide in the planning process.
- Ensures plans meet the mandatory requirements of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
- Prepares emergency situation status reports that describes the response and recovery efforts, needs, and preliminary damage assessments.
- Ensures that Health Unit employees and its emergency operations facilities are in a continuous state of readiness in the event of an emergency through ongoing planning, training, exercise, testing, and awareness initiatives.
- Promotes positive work environments by role modelling professional behaviour, promoting teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing workplace conflict, and effectively managing change initiatives.

**Qualifications and Competencies**:

- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant discipline from a recognized university, or a combination of education and job-related experience. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in Emergency/Disaster Management, Business Administration, Business Continuity, or a related discipline.
- Certified completion of Intermediate Incident Management System (IMS) 300 is required.
- Certified completion of IMS 910 is an asset.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in developing and overseeing large, complex projects, such as emergency management initiatives in public or private sector organization.
- 3 to 5 years’ previous experience working in public sector in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
- Experience in Incident Management System, Emergency Operations Centers, Emergency Response Planning, Municipal Emergency Management Program development and delivery.
- Experience operating as a project leader, identifying challenges and needs, and initiating, coordinating, and managing the implementation of solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, legislation, etc. including the Ontario Public Health Standards, and Health Protection and Promotion Act.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation including but not limited to including the Emergency Management & Civil Protection Act,
