**ROLE OF THE PAYROLL & ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR**

The Payroll & Accounting Coordinator is responsible for the accurate completion of all full-cycle payroll processes and reconciliations and aids with a variety of routine and non-routine accounting duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with existing guidelines, policies, and procedures.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage all end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting and verifying timesheets, calculating wages, ensuring accurate deductions and withholdings, status changes, tax changes, retroactive adjustments, and special pays.
- Create and maintain payroll files in compliance with applicable legislative requirements and County retention policies.
- Maintain vacation and sick leave accruals as per Municipal policies.
- Process electronic Records of Employment.
- Reconcile, prepare, and verify accuracy for all payroll year-end documentation.
- Process CRA remittances, T4s and reconciliations of the general ledger accounts relating to payroll.
- Calculate and invoice monthly payroll and benefit administration for contracted external organizations.
- Administration of employee enrollment, changes, and terminations to the group benefit plan.
- Administration of the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) for eligible employees.
- Administration of all County insurance accounts.
- Reconcile and prepare GST returns and WCB payments.
- Complete bank reconciliations.
- Maintenance of accounting codes and Capital Asset Ledger.
- Assist in the annual budget process.
- Assist with year end working papers, internal and external audits, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Provide back up for front end coverage assistance when required.
- Other duties and special projects as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in accounting or finance
- 3-5 years of previous experience with full-cycle payroll processing and reconciliation
- 3-5 years of previous accounting experience and solid understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, with advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
- High degree of organization and attention to detail/accuracy.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, adhering to applicable privacy legislation.
- Ability to obtain a clear criminal record check.
- Previous experience in municipal government is considered an asset.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $70,552.00-$82,563.00 per year
