**Key Responsibilities Level 1**:

- Perform the tasks prioritized by the managing data scientist, which will involve:

- Training and validating ML models
- Using Azure cognitive services to solve specific business problems—for example, recognizing and reading invoices, or identifying and digitizing text
- Work in an established infrastructure which includes a formal data lakes and compute environment, minimizing local processing on your Aecon provided laptop
- Perform mapping activities for enterprise data integration
- Support the implementation of rules and procedures for data sharing
- Guarantee adherence to legal and company regulations

**Key Responsibilities Level 2**:

- Create data visualizations for business process owners and operations teams, with a clear understanding of the different needs of different analytic consumers.
- Provide hands-on assistance and coaching to the junior data scientist when needed due to backlog or capability gaps
- Perform the tasks prioritized by the managing data scientist
- Assist with recognizing and upholding digital security systems to protect sensitive information.
- Key Responsibilities Senior Data Scientist:

- Contributes to, and ensures the execution of, Aecon’s data science strategy.
- Establish, communicate (to the enterprise), and enforce standards and Aecon best practices concerning:

- Appropriate code markup techniques to ensure analysis is repeatable and that different users can quickly understand and follow existing code
- Suitable report content and formats for business users in LaTex (or similar) so that business users are able to easily understand the outcomes of Data Science reports, and also see the logic behind analytic models to eliminate any ‘bacl
- box’ effects
- Code version control to protect against loss
- The languages and IDEs Aecon will use for analysis
- Performs sophisiticated analysis and is able to crticially assess the algebraic logic of any external/publicly sourced packages and libraries

**In addition, the Senior Data Scientist will**:

- Performs rapid proof of concepts that are timeboxed and have clear success criteria
- Create innovate solutions—solutions that are simple to maintain, are new to Aecon, and that leverage proven capabilities e.g. planning systems
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure that all required data pipelines are available when needed, especially in the context of ad-hoc analysis
- Prioritize and support the work activites of junior and intermediate data scientists
- In collaboration with Data Governance lead, create and enforce common data definitions and implement regular data quality audits on data used within the Data Science function, including a process that corrects any data issues that are identified
- Champion and ensure the adoption of standards that some stakeholders may find restrictive or burdensome by highlighting the reationale and benefits of those standards
- Manage research projects ensuring timelines and objectives are met

**Required Knowledge and Experience Level 1 and 2**:

- An undergraduate degree and a data science certification from a recognized college or university.
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in data management or analysis.
- Ability to decipher and organize large amounts of data.
- An analytical mindset with superb communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify complex problems, and to discuss resolutions resolutions clearly and in nontechnical terms.
- Experience creating statistical and analytic models using construction data including construction schedules from P6
- Willingness to follow strict user experience guidelines.
- Committed to following a standard intake and prioritization process
- Strong interpersonal skills
- An ability to manage multiple assignments with mínimal supervision.
- Strong support experience and excellent documentation skills.

**Required Knowledge and Experience Senior Data Scientist**:

- Staff supervision experience
- 3+ years experience influencing and navigating complex stakeholder environments
- Masters Degree or equivalent experience (5 years) hands-on in a data science role
- Will provide an extensive portfolio of prior work as evidence of proficiency
- Experience creating research questions and performing structured quantitative research that results in sufficient evidence to prove or disprove null-hypotheses
