**Description**:
**The Position**:
The Computational Catalyst in the Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) Computational Sciences (gCS) organization is seeking a talented Bioinformatician or Data Scientist who enjoys challenging technology problems and creating high-quality software that empower scientists and transform critical business strategies.

**Duties Include**:

- Explore novel methods for the processing and analysis of Human Genetics data.
- Develop pipelines for omics data analysis, specifically the combination of Human Genetics data with single cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq or Perturb-seq.
- Work closely with the genomic scientists to identify possible improvements to our analysis pipelines.
- Develop algorithms and tools for analysis, benchmarking, and quality assessment of genomic data.
- Propose and develop new models and methodologies to analyze novel data types that we are generating in house.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree with 5+ years’ experience or PhD with 2+ years’ experience in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or a related field
- Experience in analyzing and obtaining insights from high throughput sequencing (HTS/NGS) data, e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, WGS, WES, scRNA-seq.
- Familiarity with QC processes for NGS data.
- Experience using cloud-based analysis platforms such as Verily Workbench, DNAnexus, AWS Health Omics etc.
- Knowledge of Python or R.
- Able to communicate research results effectively to non-data scientists.
- Effective collaboration with data scientists to refine data models, design improvements, conduct experiments, and iteratively improve results.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working with scientists or in a research environment is advantageous.
- Experience designing or maintaining AI/ML models.
