**Director of Development**:
**Primary Purpose**: The Director of Development is responsible for developing major gift fundraising plans, primarily in Regina and the surrounding region, to significantly increase and diversify revenue for the University of Saskatchewan. The Director will provide high-level expertise, direction and facilitation in the development, and implementation of fundraising and alumni strategies designed to maximize long term support for, and engagement with, the university.

**Nature of Work**:Under the strategic direction of the Associate Vice-President, Development, working in collaboration with multiple team members, the Director will drive the development of cultivation/solicitation fundraising plans and projects, leading priority initiatives that support major gifts, designed to lift the profile of the University of Saskatchewan as a major destination for alumni and philanthropic engagement.

This position not only engages donors and alumni in key programs and initiatives, articulating the opportunities and impact of financial investments, but also may support specific fundraising programs and engagement initiatives. The incumbent is required to garner an in-depth understanding of the Comprehensive Campaign initiatives with the mandate to build relationships that support philanthropy while also creating opportunities for alumni engagement. The Director will build and manage alumni relationships while working closely with development professionals to identify donor prospects.

The work requires a proactive approach in a complex environment and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences by a variety of methods and communication mediums. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships and modeling best practices is essential to success. This position makes discretionary decisions and uses excellent judgment to determine appropriate procedures in alignment with legislative requirements and institutional policies. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential to ensure information provided to others is correct. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced.

**Accountabilities**:
**Fundraising & Alumni Relations**
- Identify, engage, cultivate, solicitate and steward gifts from donors and prospects in support of institutional priorities in the Regina and Southern Saskatchewan area.
- Oversee the production of tailored principal and major gift proposals and case statements.
- Provide strategic fundraising expertise for fundraising initiatives identified by senior leadership. This includes providing high-level support for programs and projects requiring major gift support.
- Actively manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors with a focus on those who have the ability to make significant major gifts to support institutional priorities and campaign goals.
- Strengthen long-term relationships with the university’s major donors by ensuring they are stewarded and recognized in ways that are meaningful to them and that are in alignment with institutional recognition guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with college advancement colleagues and appropriate members of the University of Relations team to ensure all aspects of college and university advancement activity are closely aligned with relevant institutional policies and guidelines.
