**Job Description**:

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance & Operations (FMO) or designate, the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) Specialist is responsible for providing specialized repair and maintenance to sterilizers and other critical hospital equipment throughout Island Health. The MDRD Specialist carries out electrical and mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance at the factory-trained (Specialist) service level for a variety of hospital equipment, generally focusing on Medical Device Reprocessing sterilizers and washers, as well as Operating Room equipment for a multi-site operation. The MDRD Specialist will perform tasks throughout the region to standardize maintenance practices on equipment and systems and manages Minor Maintenance Projects. Assigns tasks and provides related technical advice and orientation to designated FMO and other staff as required.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of BC. Graduate of a recognized diploma program in Electronic Technology. Industry and vendor equipment certifications as required. Three years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
