Seeking a driven, organized and customer oriented **General Manager/Guide** for 2 floors of an assisted living facility (maximum 24 residents). This is a 3-year pilot-project as we are trying a new concept in assisted living by transforming institutional settings into home-like environments that are focused on staff empowerment and resident centred quality of life. This is a new concept to Canada, and we are seeking someone who is willing to embrace a new philosophy in providing care to elders.

Reporting to the Senior Management team and working in partnership with the Care Coordinator, the **General Manager/Guide** will be primarily responsible for:

- Managing the day-to-day operations.
- Coordinating and providing leadership to each clinical, managerial, and custodial team, and ensuring that they work together effectively.
- Communicating with the Senior Management team and recommending hires and terminations of employees at every level.
- Ensuring the facility operates in compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Coordinating with clinical staff to ensure residents’ individual care plans are being followed.
- Reviewing, up-dating, developing, and enforcing all company policies, procedures and documentation.
- Providing regular education, safety and compliance training.
- Dealing with emergency situations through professional response and communication.
- Working collaboratively with the community and with provincial and industry associations.
- Creating and maintaining a budget with the Senior Management team and administering budgets and services rates.
- Overseeing billing and set fees.
- Acting as the ‘face’ of the organization to the Board of Directors, the public, and residents’ families; and as a liaison between staff, residents, and families.
- Preparing official reports for the senior management team.
- Attending meetings with staff, families, and the management team.

**The first 6-12 months of this role will be spent in our Mississauga office on training, assisting in the coordination of renovations, attending meetings on and off-site when required, assisting in establishing operations framework, assisting in the hiring of other staff, compiling a waitlist for potential residents and other administrative duties as required. After occupancy, the position will be located in Hamilton with monthly travel to our Mississauga office.**

**Qualifications**:

- Nursing degree/diploma, geriatric experience preferred
- Excellent skills in time and stress management, a calm, patient, and professional demeanor, and deep understanding of both the clinical and business aspects of running a retirement home and/or assisted living facility
- Administrative skills, including knowledge of MS Office suite
- Great organizational skills
- Experience leading a team

**Term**: 3-year contract with the possibility of extension

**Salary**: $100K+ (based on experience)

**Hours**: Minimum 40 hours per week, however these may not be standardized and may require more than 40 hours per week, including the possibility of being on-call nights, weekends, and holidays

**Vacation**:2 weeks

**Benefits**: Participation in full organization-wide benefit plan after a successful probationary period

**Location**: Mississauga (for 6-12 months and then once a month for meetings)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months
