DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs and assesses radiographic procedures to produce imaging, and high quality diagnostic radiographs via practice of radiation safety procedures and adherence to a strict code of aseptic techniques.
- Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
- Actively participates in team building concepts, and development of departmental goals.
- Operates and maintains equipment via participation in Quality Control and Quality Assurance tests.
- Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel re: procedure types, lab results, equipment failures, policies and procedures.
- Assists, instructs, and educates patients prior to, during, and after procedure.
- Assists nurses/radiologist with patient and room preparation and clean up.
- Assists in maintaining records, data entry and PACS archive.
- Maintains responsibility and accountability for the teaching program, orientation, training of technologists, students, residents and other Hospital personnel.
- Participates in the coordination, education and teaching of Radiography students.
- Utilizes expert technical knowledge to teach/educate and train students and staff on technical, procedural and theoretical issues to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department.
- Assesses training criteria and adjusts training protocols on an on-going basis, as required.
- Documents and maintains a precise record of clinical performance and evaluation results od students; communicates these to the Operational Leader.
- Facilitates remedial assistance to students, where required.
- Provide timely constructive feedback to students on an ongoing basis; informs Operations Leader of all training issues.
- Ensures staff follow the regulations and guidelines for teaching that are set out by the education institution and by the regulatory body for their profession.
- Ensures students follow all policies of the clinical site.
- Performs Assessment and evaluations of students in coordination with the Academic Institution.
- Liaises with the affiliated educational institution(s) on student progress and updates.
- Provides educational sessions and seminars.
- Maintains current expert knowledge of x-ray procedures by attending continuing education courses, workshops and keeps abreast of new procedures and techniques.
- Liaises with Radiologist(s) and Operations Leaders to keep current with department policies and protocols.
- Assists in writing policies and procedures.
- Attends meetings designed to inform future program decisions.
- Attends professional development days or perform continuing education activities to augment teaching abilities.
- Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.
- comprehensive knowledge of theory and skills in Radiography.
- 3 years hospital experience.
- CPR or BCLS certification mandatory.
- Completion of cross sectional anatomy course an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organization skills.
- Understanding and commitment to the Hospital's Mission and Values.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
- Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member.
- Ability to meet patient and student needs in an efficient manner.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, and set priorities, managing time effectively.
- Effective leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioratize demands in an academic environment.

- Ability to work collaboratively with the Operations Leader and the Medeical Imaging Management Team.
- Must be flexible, punctual and have an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work all shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends)
