HR Generalist

The HR Generalist reports to the HR Director and will participate in various HR projects and initiatives to support the company’s objectives.
**This is a maternity leave replacement and we offer an 18 months contract with group benefits**
**Responsibilities**:
- Manage the weekly and bi-weekly payroll for unionized and non-unionized employees.
- Manage the administration of benefits, claims and time-off requests.
- Deliver full recruitment services for assigned positions including need analysis, writing job descriptions, job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
- Conduct background checks and pre-employment verifications.
- Provide support, answer employees’ questions and provide guidance according to HR best practices, company policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining employees’ files updated with complete documentation (hard and soft copies).
- Coordinate and organize training sessions when required.
- Propose ideas to improve employees’ retention and engagement.
- Rise HR-related problems and concerns to the HR Director in a promptly manner.
- Promote the company’s vision, mission and values.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, employment law and payroll.
- Provide continuous support and work closely with the HR Director in various HR initiatives, day-to-day HR operations, ad-hoc & year-end reports, implementation of new HR programs, coordinating meetings, corporate activities, and other related tasks, as required.
**Education and Experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of human resources experience.
- Experience managing payroll for unionized and non-unionized employees is essential.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or another Payroll Management System would be considered as an asset.
- A Canadian Payroll Certification would be considered as an asset.
- Good knowledge of general employment laws and payroll regulations.
- Previous experience in the recruitment process.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
- Strong teamwork skills, collaborative spirit, attention to detail and accuracy of information.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Positive attitude and solution oriented.
