**Position**: CYF Program Instructor/Coordinator

**Reports to**:Director of Operations

**Scope**

The Program Coordinator works within a small team to provide training and employability skills to new entrants to the construction industry.

The Program Coordinator interacts with participants, community organizations, training providers and employers with the intent to assist and guide potential employees to secure employment and provide a prepared and ready-to-work individual to an employer.

**Responsibilities**
- Create and maintain on-line advertisement on several different platforms for program promotion and participant recruitment
- Conduct participant assessments to identify eligibility, suitability, and any barriers to training and employment
- Work as a team to develop and deliver curriculum to meet project needs
- Coordinate and manage program schedule and activities
- Coordinate external speakers and instructors
- Plan and deliver group workshops
- Provide group and/or individual employment and career counselling
- Promote participants to employers to facilitate work experience placement and subsequent employment
- Gather labour market information to assist in determining regional specific needs and opportunities
- Visit job sites to develop work experience placements and work experience monitoring
- Assess needs of participants for PPE, transportation and other supports
- Develop and maintain administrative processes to organize and track all aspects of the CYF program including; recruitment efforts, staff and contractor credentials and clearances, participant training, work experiences and employment.
- Coordinate participant stipend payments including; collecting, reconciling and submitting participant time sheets
- Purchase participant supports and speaker recognition supports
- Organize and print participant workbooks, job search booklets and instructor guides
- Reconcile program credit card and ensure all program invoices have been submitted for payment
- Assist Director of Operations in tracking the program budget
- Establish, build and maintain relationships with community organizations, and local service providers connected to the construction industry.
- Provide support to other departments of VICA if and when time permits

**Accountabilities**
- Maintain complete participant file according to program requirements and deliverables
- Complete and submit all required reporting documents per program requirements
- Build and maintain successful professional relationships with clients, employers, training providers, and service providers
- Address identified barriers, create achievable action plans to support participants in overcoming barriers
- Provide service to client to prepare for job readiness and successful trades employment outcome
- Represent VICA in a professional manner
- Survey program participants at regular intervals to get feedback on program
- Complete and submit all required reporting documents per program requirements

**Key Results**
- Employer relationships are well-maintained and allow for easy placement of work experience participants
- Participant barriers to employment have been identified and addressed
- Participants are job-ready and prepared for successful trades employment outcome(s)
- Program deliverables have been achieved as set out by funder

**Qualifications**
- Degree/Diploma in Career Development, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or Counselling an asset
- Experience in Career Development/Job Development is an asset
- Experience in workshop facilitation
- Proven experience working with at risk, barriered, indigenous peoples and youth
- Knowledge and understanding of various construction trades and the apprenticeship process is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Clear criminal record check required

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
