**Position Overview**:
Working under the direction of the Manager of Employee Safety and Injury Prevention, the Safety Certification Lead will be responsible for ensuring organizational readiness for undergoing safety certification audits as per the Manitoba Association for Safety in Healthcare (MASH), an industry-based safety association.This includes responsibility for ensuring all organizational policies are updated and compliant with the criteria established for the audit, as well as ongoing support to each service delivery organization as they prepare for the audits. This will include support to the Safety Coordinators, as well as establishing the processes necessary to sustain safety certification renewals.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in the development and implementation of Health & Safety programs in accordance with the Workplace Safety & Health Act.
- Previous experience in the preparation and delivery of Occupational Health & Safety educational material.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, and guidelines related to health and safety.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety auditing.
- Minimum 3 years in Workplace Health & Safety, preferably in a healthcare environment preferred.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**:

- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Registration as Canadian Registered Safety Professional preferred.

**SPECIAL TRAINING**:

- Training to conduct SAFE Work audits preferred.
- Project management training is an asset.
- Current safety auditor certification, and requirement to maintain certification.
- Safety auditing training: The Safety Auditor Lead should have a solid understanding of the principles and techniques of safety auditing.
- Industry-specific training: The Safety Auditor Lead should have a good understanding of the industry in which the organization operates. They may need to attend courses or workshops that cover topics such as audit planning, conducting audits, report writing, and follow-up activities.

**Certification/Licensure/Registration**:

- Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation preferred.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Proficient in working with computer business software, particularly Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project Management preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders including MASH, and Safe Work Manitoba, to ensure organizational readiness for safety audits.
- Demonstrated leadership ability preferred.
- Strong knowledge of safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using audit tools and software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing demands with frequent interruptions, and meet deadlines.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to work in a computerized environment, and with multiple competing priorities, deadlines, and distractions. Position may require site visits with periods of prolonged standing and walking.**This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.**
