Heavy Equipment Operator

**The opportunity**:
Leduc County is looking for two experienced and highly motivated Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team. Reporting to the Area Foremen this exciting opportunity operates single and tandem axle trucks, graders, front-end loaders, and other medium and heavy weight construction equipment to support the maintenance of county roads and municipal infrastructure. The Heavy Equipment Operator is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables. There is one position available in our East Area and one in our West Area.

**What you will do**:
- Operates heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with snowplow and wing attachments, graders, excavators, and front-end loaders, performing various road maintenance functions in the summer and snow and ice removal in the winter months.
- Services and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Logs hours and complies with the _Traffic Safety Act._
- Performs various labourer duties as required.
- Hauls and unloads various types of materials, gravel, earth, asphalt, water, and road equipment in designated areas for maintenance and construction as required.
- Adheres to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
- Accountable for working in compliance with the _Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act_, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
- Performs related duties as required.
**What you need to succeed**:
**Must-have**:
- A high school diploma and a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License.
- Three years of trucking experience or tandem axle plow/sand truck or other heavy equipment operation.
- A service focus with good verbal and written communication skills.
**Nice to have**:
- A Class 1 Alberta Driver’s License.
- Familiarity with County operations and knowledge of rural communities.
