**SUMMARY**:
The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Apprentice is responsible for troubleshooting and performing mechanical repairs and installs on a variety of heavy equipment.

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Licensed Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician
- Valid driver’s license, Class 3 or Q Endorsement preferred and a clean driver’s abstract
- CVIP license considered an asset
- Experience working on Heavy Duty equipment
- Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
- Chassis experience considered an asset
- First Aid Certification considered an asset
- Exposure to Street Sweepers, Vacuum Trucks or Refuse equipment is considered an asset
- Forklift or overhead crane certificates would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safe manner
- Team player and willing to assist others when required
- Attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction
- Critical thinker with ability to execute aspects of work independently

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, PDIs (pre-delivery inspections) and test a variety of mechanical and electronic equipment represented by the Company
- Perform hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
- Conduct repairs in a timely and effective manner, communicating effectively with the Service and Parts teams to ensure optimal efficiency
- Communicate with Lead Hand and/or Service Manager regarding job progress and job status changes
- Maintain organized and safe work area, shop tools and service vans
- Ability to work on-call shifts and to work alternating shifts when required (seasonal)
- Complete additional tasks as assigned

- Cooperate with their workplace's Safety Committee or health and safety representative
- use any safety equipment, protective devises or clothing required
- not remove or make ineffective any protective devise require by the Company or by the regulations
