**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner, the student will provide a broad range of customer service and administrative support functions. This placement is within a professional, customer-focused, and highly confidential office environment, where the student will assist the Commissioner’s Executive Assistant and department administrative assistants. Niagara Region is dedicated to offering student employees valuable educational and professional experiences, providing increasing responsibility as their experience grows, all within a collaborative team-oriented atmosphere.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**
- Completion of or currently enrolled in Office Administration.
- Advanced knowledge/training in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft 365 Apps, including OneDrive, OneNote and Teams.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Organizing and maintaining confidential files and assisting with assigned projects and duties.
- Handle and protect confidential and sensitive material with integrity.
- Ensure timely distribution and/or return of documents.
- Compose correspondence under the direction of Executive or Administrative Assistants and other staff of the department as requested.
- Provide general administrative support and back up functions on behalf of the department management staff such as scheduling meetings, minute taking etc.
- Coordinates meetings, preparing agenda packages, record proceedings, performing follow-up tasks for Committee and any sub-committees.
- Undertakes background research for information on special projects or other duties related to mandate of the division/department and to support policy/report preparation, identifying areas of interest and potential concern for Director/Manager review.
- Provide support to Divisional Administrative Assistants.
- Undertake special projects, tasks, power point presentations, or other related duties as requested.
