The Department Manager, Meat is accountable for the efficient and fiscally
- responsible operation of the department. The Manager will lead and manage staff to achieve the highest level of customer service while adhering to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Corporate Policies, Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives. The Manager will also manage budgets, labor costs, inventory control, product presentation, and merchandising. The Manager will coach, motivate and develop their team to foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

**Your Responsibilities**
**People Leadership**
- Create a coaching and development culture for all employees, which embraces a passion for food service
- Demonstrate outstanding leadership, while serving as a role model
- Manage direct reports including selection, orientation, training and development, performance management, and career planning
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and situations by demonstrating proficiency in problem-solving and decision-making skills while communicating operational requirements/ changes to department associates through daily huddles
**Customer Offering**
- Create a shopping experience that engages customers in a way that enhances loyalty, sales, and profit
- Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs
- Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, including awareness of product changes, promotions, and seasonal trends
- Order, receive, organize, rotate, merchandise, and present products and stock in accordance with company standards
- Driving profitable sales for your department by controlling shrink (waste) through following order guides, rotation, dating, and storage standards and using all production charts
- Execute department programs through effective merchandising techniques, suggestive selling, and attractive displays as well as ongoing maintenance and execution of planograms
**Policy/Regulatory Adherence**
- Lead the implementation of all corporate policies, initiatives, and Standard Operating Procedures and ensure the department and employees comply and use them effectively, including timely and accurate submission of all relevant documentation as required
- Responsible for ensuring that H&S, food safety, and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and maintained
**Financial**
- Work with the Store Manager to ensure the department achieves all financial targets and maximizes sales and margins, including appropriate sales forecasting, variance analysis, and labor cost control
- Manage the department budget
**Personal/Professional Development**
- Thorough understanding of all relevant company programs
- Keeps abreast of local competitor activity and industry trends
- Enterprising, passionate individuals who are good planners and organizers are always successful in this role
**Skills and Qualifications**
We’re looking for professional, organized workers who have a healthy sense of adventure and a strong knowledge and experience base.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment
- Strong customer service skills.
- Record of bottom line and sales results in previous roles.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both verbally and orally.
- Computer knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles.
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with a high attention to detail
- Proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and superior customer service skills
- Must have the ability and desire to develop an in-depth understanding of Northern/NorthMart customers
- Demonstrates a personal and enthusiastic commitment to Northern/NorthMart's vision, mission, values and strategies
